Critical Care

" We are , in essence, a mobile intensive care unit with the ability to manage a patient's critical medical condition during transport to a facility of higher care", said Gross. " We have the skills required adn the support needed from our medical director to care for a variety of patient needs."

Northeast Iowa Medical Transport, Inc. - Critical Care Team

Reginald Gross, EMT-PS, CCP and C.E.O. envisioned a mobile Critical Care Service that could further serve this area's hospitals with emergency transports of seriously ill and injured patients to higher levels of care facilities. In pursuit of that vision he completed the University of Iowa's first critical care program. The program is 92 hours in length and includes didactic and hands on experience in the hospital's intensive care units. Instructors of the class include cardiologists, internists, neurologists, respiratory therapists, doctors, and nurses who specialize in treatment of critically ill patients. With Reggie's encouragement Kris Kamm, paramedic with NIMT, also went through the University of Iowa's Critical Care program. This gave NIMT Service two highly trained paramedics and set into motion the paper work and state inspections of equipment that finally resulted in the endorsement of a critical care service.
